Am I missing something Warriors fans? Why does your coach continue to play this guy over JaVale McGee?
Game 1 - 4 rebs, 0 blocks - 22 mins
Game 2 - 5 rebs, 1 block - 11 mins (blowout game)
Game 3 - 5 rebs, 2 blocks - 14 mins (blowout game)
Game 4 - 6 rebs, 1 block - 26 mins
Game 5 - 4 rebs, 0 blocks - 22 mins
On the opposite end, Capela is bullying the boards. I don't care how close the team rebounding is. Your big man who is playing 19 mins a game should do better than having less than 5 rebounds a game. I'm struggling to see what this guy does well. He just screens really good, and that's about it.
I mentioned this all the way back in game 2. What is with Kerr's refusal to play Javale?
Compare their per 36 numbers -
Looney - 10 pts, 8 rebs, 2 blocks
McGee - 18 pts, 10 rebs, 3 blocks.
Inasmuch as you can't read too much into stats, he is better than Looney in every single metric. Sure, he may have the occasional lapse in judgement, but so has every single GS player on the floor this series. He is especially useful on the defensive end where is going to block or alter shots with his length.
You don't have to give him surplus minutes. But he's a high impact player that will give you some energy off the bench and fight for those boards. Unless he's injured or something and I stand to be corrected.
