Nash came back to WCW and in 2-3 years got Sting to join his group and was booking the show Sting was on. He had to have mattered :stopitslime:

Nash himself admitted he came to wcw in pursuit of "Sting money" Bo$$ Borden laid a blueprint on how to pimp the "rasslin" system without being pimped, Sting did a LOT of jobs. .. some unnecessary (shoulda been the one to beat Whisker Buscuit eventually) and still got both love and paid like a :king: Nash mattered in the summer of 98 to winter 98 sure that's true but he, his political allies and buddies were a major catalyst of the titanic sinking. Oz did his job tho. He's got cats discussing him like a current star in 2013 :scusthov:

He is a current star, in our world. He's a top confidant of the EVP of Talent, WWE. Matters more than some industry stalling gig down in Universal.

Getting paid handsomely to walk out slowly in a generic tee a few times a month and destroy army of men half your age with your sanity health and reputation in tact ain't a bad gig either tho. :manny:

Sting was basically the John Cena of his day -- a guy who was never that renowned for his work-rate but stumbled onto a gimmick with a ton of pop culture resonance and became an icon.

If he had been in the WWE, he'd have easily surpassed Taker (and Kane, for that matter) as the top ghoul character in the company.

When we say "Nash was never relevant" it doesn't mean that he had no impact on the business. He obviously did. But in terms of wrestling's relevance to the casual observer, Sting has Nash beat by light years. The "Sting brand" was one of the reasons why being a fan of wrestling was socially acceptable in the 90s. That's something you can only say for a few other wrestlers and Nash is not one of them.
