Can't knock his hustle at all. Dude's early standup before he blew up was great. He was a natural. That said everything I've seen/read about the art of standup always reiterates that comedians really hone each act a ton. That's why when guys blow up it gets hard for them to come up with new stuff because they can't just play the comedy club scene low key while they try out new jokes and timing and all that. That's why guys like Chappelle and Chris Rock pop up unannounced to do 5 mns at random places because they need to work on their stuff. Kevin Hart is going from tour to tour which is why his standup has basically turned into him clowining, making funny faces and throwing out catch phrases. It works for him and he's a naturally funny and expressive guy but its not as good as it could be. But hey if the choice is between working for a year to turn your standup from a C+ to an A or making eleventy million dollars on a huge tour I'm taking the eleventy
