hey it's my opinion..disagree if you may....neg me if you want
i will name the artist....give a brief synopsis of why i feel they are worthy of being ranked..and select thier most memorable coke verse:
1. BIGGIE ....... when Coke rap was first being distributed througout the streets of the early 90s like a Cartel layout....via artists such as Children of the Corn..the Lox...Money Boss Players...Rae and Ghost...i have to say BIG personally stood out to me with his clarity..sense of detail as well as humor and natural talent for vivid story telling....the way he laid out the scenery in N1GGAZ BLEED LIKE US was classic and epic at the same time...im so pissed his life was cut so short...i just could imagine what his third LP would have sounded like
in fact BIG is sooo nice...i couldnt just quote one damn verse..ill make it two for time and space reasons..cause actually ALL HIS COKE VERSES WERE QUOATABLES...
"pop the gat ..aim squeeze precisely ..where dem n1ggas at?..dem phaggots are sheisty ..see the problem is..you way to nice..pleaaase"..where dat coke at?..fukk where it might be!"
"Colombians..Dominicans...yeah whatever..who ever he was he was gonna have to tough it in the leather....
Colombian, Dominican, yeah whatever
Whoever he was, he had it tucked under the leather
Two keys, 20 Gs, nikka, please!
Blew his brains out 'cause witnesses, we don't need!"
2. JAY Z......Ill admit i slept on HOV when he first dropped REASONABLE DOUBT..i was like up to my nostrils in good coke rap coming from NYC...HOV just seeemed like another run of the mill coke rapper..till i remember hearing a DJ CLUE mixtape i think it was springtime stickup 96...and he played CAN I LIVE...and D-EVILS and i remember those tracks being songs i played relentlessly on that tape..just amazed at ole boy's wordplay and vocal visuals he displayed...you couldn't help but think regardless how good of a rapper he is...in the back of your mind every verse had you thinking.."YEAH HE DID THAT SHYT" (Authenticity)
"we use to fight for building blocks..now we fight for blocks of buildings to make a killing...back in the days he never learned to use rubbers..he never learned ..so in turn im kidnapping his baby mother..my hand around her collar ..feeding her cheese..she said the taste of 20s was shytty so i fed her 50's"
3# JADAKISS....all praises due to AL QUEDA JADA!!!!!...been a favorite of mine since i use to listen the the LOX on Super Sam ...Rated R....and DJ Clue mixtapes..long before they got the record deal with Puff's byatch azz (smh)...anyway...I wish i could include them as a duo....KISS N STYLES...cause they are really like a super tag team..but JADA is the one who emphasis COKE more than anybody in the LOX camp and he embodies it well....might not be the BEST AT THIS..but he is definitly the NO. 1 PUNCHLINE GUY on this list....i call him the PAPOOSE OF COKE RAP..cause he got wayyy to many slick lines and punchlines...and graphic as fukk...i remember my college roomate telling me..."Jada says some cruel azz shyt...that make u NOT wanna sell dope in his vicinity"....like the ANGRY COKE DEALER who will stop at nothing to have u die a miserable death..lmao..A HA!!!!!!!!!
"my sixteens be so REAL..you can feel em in your vein like rommelo's pops from Sugar Hill..Jada be the cause for the KISS at your WAKE..Cartel lips SPITTING CLIPS AT YO FACE!!!!!!"
4# JEEZY....Cant talk about COKE without having the SNOWMAN...HA HA (lol) ...once again just as i noted with BIG i have to have a personal connection to the music or the personalityh....in a way i feel the AUTHENTICY..and much like Jay z..i would have to say YOUNG JEEZY is as REAL AS IT GETS ...
its crazy considering i was sooo much of an east coast head coming down south during the late 90s that i didn't fukk with really any southern artists like that no matter how "real" or "trill" they were in thier music or lifestyle..like UGK i thought they made good songs..but not enough to enjoy a whole album ..same with 8 Ball or TIP they just didn't move me like that..
but TRAP OR DIE by JEEZY definitly caught my soul!!!..and mabye it was them DARK AZZ BEATS that JEEZY had which appealed to my east coast sensibilities or mabye his funny azz methaphors and adlibs refrencing coke...which came off very witty to me ...or maybe it was the whole BMF affiliation which he provided the soundtrack to which i was able to witness during it's height 2003-2005 in ATL when i was working street promotions for a major label as well as a few indys,,,either way it work..cause JEEZY knew how to talk about that WORK!!! ...yeaaaaaaaahhhh
"Who gives a fukk about friends..if you mix the baking soda with it..you can get a benz....while yall robbing and shooting....im standing over that Stove..like a chef at houstons"....
5# El Dorado Red....now this one right here would be my "wildcard" contestant ..lmao...cause few even know of this dude...an indy cat out of alabama who had a lil buz in ATL being one of Zaytoven's first artist "Zips of the Loud" a song and video he financied himself..originally from Harlem NYC who migrated to the West Coast where he became familar with Zay in the bay...he made the move to the South to capitilize on the scene and made some pretty damn good music in my opinion...his MCRADO MIXTAPE is considered a DATPIFF.com classic...and his collabos with artists are overlooked but pretty damn good as well...but one single caught my attention cause it is just FLAWLESS in terms of production and visuals and lyrical presentation....and is still a fav to this day of mine..everytime i had this track playing on my radio show ..i always got that question from callers and twitter followers...AYE ..WHO DAT??!?!?
......the track in question is "WHACK EVERYBODY" a cinematic epic tale of a vengeful attack on anybody who crosses him ...the godfather movie samples just add to the eeriness of the track......overall most of his tracks hit that mark..seem like El Dorado was on his way to making it "big" once he got signed on to Yo Gotti's COCAINE MUSIC GROUP (CMG) label..but unfortunatly a court conviction related to a homicide abrutly put a halt to that and many of his endeavors.....still in all...ole boy made his contribution and deserves to be on this list...fukk what yall say
"i don't cook it on the microwave..i like my Cokeiyena GOURMET...N1gga i got fishscale plates...enough to flood 4 to 5 states...rich n1gga conversation..rap money slow..i aint got know damn patience...thats why im on the trap phone talking with my Haitians!
