According to promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports, Brandon Rios (33-2-1, 24KOs) is still the frontrunner to face IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs) on August 29th.

Hearn has been talking with Rios' promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank and there is serious interest in the fight. Hearn also spoke with Rios' trainer, Robert Garcia, who was in London working Evgeny Gradovich's corner for the fight with Lee Selby on Saturday night at the O2 Arena.

Brook has seen action twice in 2015. He demolished mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan in four rounds in March and then came back on Saturday to breeze through Frankie Gavin in six.

Brook has been out of the ring since January, when he destroyed Mike Alvarado in the third round of their trilogy fight.

“August 29th is the date we’re targeting. I'd love it in Bramall Lane. I've spoken to Sheffield United as well. Rios is still my preferred choice. He’s the perfect fight style-wise, name-wise and entertainment-wise. Top Rank and Bob Arum seem to want the fight. We had a bit of banter with Robert Garcia yesterday," Hearn said.

Why won't Bob stop fukking around and give us the only Brandon Rios fight anyone wants? We need that Rios vs Victor Ortiz grudge match before Victor flakes out again and decides to become a mime or something.

This. Brandon is a punching bag and will get dominated by Kell. At least I can see him beat the shyt out of Ortiz before he losses the rest of his equilibrium to Brook.

It may best the best opponent available for Brook, but I hate this fight for Rios.

I fully expect him to take a bad loss in this fight. He doesn't need an outing where he gets outclassed and will probably take a beating.

If Rios wants a fight where we know he will get hit a lot, but has a better chance of winning...how about Provodnikov or Ortiz? :wow:
