So in one of the many Kdot threads of recent weeks I saw a post saying that Kendrick has broken the format.

WHich got me to thinkin..with Kdot's debut album will and should concept albums be the norm for major releases?

Maybe not concept albums, but maybe people will put more effort into establishing a theme for an album instead of just slapping 15 songs together.

Pretty much this.

Even in the 90s not everyone had concept albums (But they were still dope), but albums like The Infamous, All Eyes On Me and Ready To Die and so on were classics because they had a theme, and were incredibly cohesive, and the songs flowed. It's when you do stuff like that do your albums stand the test of time.

Flashy production gimmicks and other trends only last for so long, but concepts and themes (Art) are eternal.

Concept albums have been the norm for years. True dots album is biggest concept album in a long time, but let's not act like its that unique.

if that's the case, then J. COLE'S album set the standard.... to which had EQUAL success to K.DOT's.
