This movie was terrible. It's actually a great example of why video game movies shouldn't happen.
Loved it as a kid haven't watched it recently I'm guessing it doesn't hold up well

it was pretty bad but I was entertained. thats why I am not sure if I am winning or sad cam? looking back now the script was so fukking dumb. imdb says the director wanted to make it like mature but the studio wanted a kids movie so we got some bullshyt in between.

Pretty much.
The Super Mario plot is very simplistic and predictable. Its not something that needed to be adapted into a film.
There was things that didn't translate well. Koopa looked more human and was running around shooting laser guns. :shaq2:

The only thing remember disliking about it was I thought yoshi was week probably won't revisit the movie either. Always had a feeling the movie is better looking at it from a nostalgia point of view than rewatching it and ruining the past

its kinda a difficult story to make into a live action serious type movie though since the basic plot of mario is that a really large dragon type turtle named Bowser (he is actually just a big koopa) kidnaps the princess of the mushroom kingdom and wants to marry her, only to be stopped by two italian plumbers who have been helped along the way by mushroom people.

i mean, there really isn't a great way to rope all that together. it would be easier if mario and luigi weren't plumbers and specifically if they weren't Italian since that places them within our world as opposed to being some fanasty race.

great post. and interesting that the production company wanted a kid movie while the director wanted it more adult themed... but i'm not sure it'd be any better if either got their way.

I liked it still watch it from time to time, I dont know how they could of done the Mario world on screen at the time unless they gonna over budget the fukk out of it, so I was cool with it being some seedy type underworld.

If they made a mario movie today they could cgi the fukk out of it and make a more true to the game Mario movie. I doubt it would be any better than the original though:yeshrug:

I do agree with the poster that said some games shouldnt be made movies, but theres def plenty worse video game movies than this one.

They see me trolling, they hating.....
saw it as a kid and didn't think it was that bad

But I felt the same way about Batman and Robin (1997) and that shyt was terrible seeing it again as an adult

so I'm afraid to rewatch this Mario film to be honest
