shyt came up in my Facebook feed. Did it get props at the time? Other than Hoegan trying to be all in the video post match, I thought it was perfect face v face matchup. Great ring psychology, pace, and story telling.

Another thread, but it got me thinking that Hoegan is probably in 4 of the top 5 wrestling moments. Someone should do one of those tournaments for moments.

1. Hogan / Andre
2. Hogan / Rock
3. NWO turn
4. Austin / Tyson
5. Hoegan Mr. T v. Mr. Wonderful and Piper

I was in 5th grade when this happened. It was huge. Transcended wrestling.

The streets were with Warrior.

yeah the crowd definitely wanted Warrior. that’s was part of the match genius in that they had him go dirty first and dirtier, which keep the crowd kinda neutral.

Those are huge moments but Rock/Austin WM 17 was fukking huge too. It was probably meant to be at WM 2000 but Austin had the surgery.

up to that point, there'd never been a face vs face matchup on that level.

There had, and in WWE, but it was pre expansion and PPV.

Bruno Sammartino vs Pedro Morales at Shea Stadium in 1972. I don't think any footage of it exists. Surely it had to have been recorded and there are a few matches or shows from the time frame/build up on the Network, but I don't think the event was ever aired as a special like the later 2 Shea shows. I've never seen footage of it anyway, but Pedro/Bruno going 75 minutes sounds terrible anyway :mjlol:

But yes, Hogan/Warrior is superbly laid out and performed, as was Warrior/Macho the next year.

Hogan Rock is definitely not top 2 or even top 20, by any metric.
Rock had already gone Hollywood and Vince only went to this match because Austin flat refused to work with Hogan.

I was looking at some mid-90’s WWF PPVs and I saw Warrior getting a push then. I have no recollection of this at all. :dwillhuh: I must’ve been too into Nitro.

He beat HHH in a squash match. He challenged Goldust for the IC belt and Goldust ran away and got DQ’ed. Then he jumped in to save HBK and Ahmed Johnson from Owen, Bulldog and Vader.

I swear I don’t remember any of this shyt. I thought he left in the early 90’s and wasn’t seen again til WCW in the late 90’s.

You bugging breh breh. Might not be top 2, but definitely not lower than 20. Hell not lower than 10. You marks need to realize that the Rock and Hogan are way bigger stars than Stone Cold. Also had longer and better runs. You probably the type of dude who thinks Bret Hart is a bigger star than Macho.

Wow..they talk more about Rock/Hogan over the last 15 years than Andre/Hogan or the nwo. Get real.

Rock has already told the story of how they came to him to do the match..Austin was never in the cards and that was why he was pissed and didn't show up the night after Mania 18. He didn't like being Midcard after his WM 17 spot.
