The official Chaplain of the Coli
Won tickets and had no idea what it was about. Saw Hit Girl was gonna be in it so I had to check it out. Mainly, seeing that she's 17, I wanted to see how she's gonna transition into an adult actress. And after watching this she def. has skills. But not sure how it will translate into adulthood becasues she plays a teen on here.
Movie wise: It's a chick flick. Basically Hit Girl plays this teen who's in her senior year in college. She's an introvert who has a passion for the cello. This dude who later became her boyfriend saw her practicing and decided to spit game. He's a singer in a band. They're totally different people. He's outgoing and she's an introvert. He's into rock music (Hit-Girl pops was a local rock star until he quit the band to take care of his fam. She's only into classical music like Yo Yo Ma.
One day her fam is driving. Got into a bad accident. Some tragic things happen and she's in a coma in the hospital. She's in a coma and her soul leaves her body. She's able to walk around but can't go through walls or whatever. So it's sorta like she's invisible watching the real worldview.
The movie is called "If I Stay" because she has to make a decision (the worldview of this movie is that our destiny is in our hands) to either stay and be with her boyfriend. Or give up and be with her loved ones.
Overall acting is good. Especially between Hit Girl and her family. Her pops loves her so much that he was willing to give up his rock star dream to beocme a better father. Though I didn't laugh as much as the white people in theatre the movie had some decent dry sarcasm. There is no "exciting" or weird personality characters. Everybody pretty much on that dry humor.
Cinetography, camera work is all dope. Loved the look and feel of this movie.
It's basically a music film so it's a lot singing. From her boyfriend who is in a rising rock band. To Hit Girl practicing her cello.
1st hour is on point. But it hits a dry point after that. The chemistry and dialogue between Hit Girl and boyfriend is not great. Sure, he has the romance on lock. Paying attention to the little things which women like. And makes Hit Girl come out of her introvert shell by being with him. He's her first boyfriend. So she experiences life outside of her music through him. The only real chemistry is them kissing every 5 minutes.
Which becomes redundant.
Movies is basically about flashbacks of spending time with her family and with her boyfriend. And the different changes in their relationship Ending is sudden but predictable. One woman even screamed at the end "That's It?"
I could recommend this movie for great acting standpoint. But overall the script needed a lot work. I'll give it B-.
