The official Chaplain of the Coli
Movie is pretty much what you expect. An advertisement for the NFL. Kevin Cotsner plays the GM for Cleveland Browns. For those who don't watch the NFL, they've sucked for years. Basically, his job is to get the best college player for their team. The team owner wants him to pick one person while he has a gut feeling about another player. Kevin falls for the pressure of the owner and makes a deal to get the # 1 draft pick. But the player he pressured to get has some character flaws. So he must choose. Get the best guy for his team. Or go with the popular pick.
1st half of the movie. If you're not an NFL fan will probably be boring. Because you won't know what the big deal is. But the 2nd half turns into a straight up Disney-esque fantasy film. With everything going right. There are some celebrities who are in the movie. Diddy plays a sports agent. And if you like his acting you'll probably like him in this. Chadwick Boseman, (the guy who played Jackie Robinson in 42) plays the underdog football player. And outside of Kevin, he's the best actor in here. There are other ESPN celebs such as Swamie, John Gruden and NFL Network legend Deon Sanders.
The movie basically revolves around Kevin. He has a lot pressure. His pops just died. An ugly girlfriend in Jennifer Gardner. Who has no personality and no chemistry together. His coach doesn't like his moves. You don't really get to see "football" in this film. It's strictly as it say a movie about the draft. And you don't really get that much depth into the players themselves. But despite all that Costner does a good job. Just not enough to make it a full price, must see. Unless, you're just an NFL junkie and get off on trades, making deals with other teams etc. Not a bad film though and would be good for Netflix or catch the matinee. I'll give it a B-.
