Let's get the obvious out the way. No, it's not the best animated this year. Not touching Lego nor How to Train Your Dragon 2. With that said it's a fairly good movie. Look wise, it's the best looking movie I've seen this year. Colors in this joint are so dope. 3D wise, it's a waste of time. Sure there are some parts where there is 3D depth but not enough to pay extra money.

Basically, the movie starts with some bad kids who are on a field trip. They meet this teacher who tells the story about some Mexicans who lived long ago. There were 2 gods who are husband and wife (wife is Kelly Bundy). They were watching these Mexican kids play and decided to make a bet about these 2 simps. There is a little girl named Maria (played by Zoe Sal.). She has 2 childhood friends Manolo and Joaquin (played by Chatum Tatum). Manolo comes from family of bull fighters. His father is a man's man. And his grandmother is similar. Though he comes from that pedigree and he reluctantly goes in the family business. However, that ain't in his heart. What he truly wants to be is a simp niguh who plays the guitar and simp after Zoe.

Chatum is his boy but they're both in love in Zoe. Chatum is more about being a hero. And not afraid to fight. He's very much into himself which is a turn off for Zoe. Zoe is your typical feminist woman. I don't really need a man. Gets mad when she thinks someone likes her mainly because of her looks. Your typical angry, independent woman, who if it was real life would die lonely.

I won't go full into the plot. Music wise, there is a lot of American music ranging from hip hop (Biz, Just a Friend), Mumford and Sons (I will Wait). So it's Americanized but there is some Latino music. Some of the jokes went over my head because I'm not Mexican. Sorta like watching the George Lopez show and they tell "Mexican jokes". Some of the romance stuff got boring for kids. The overall acting (albeit voice acting) was good from all the major cast. My favorite though was Ice Cube.

Cube played some kinda Candle dude. You can tell it was him but at the same time he actually sounded like he was playing a character. Voice had some emotion. Now, one part, I joked in my mind that he was going to say something. But I knew it was no way he was going say it. But I was wrong. I was the only laughing in the theatre though when he said
Today was a good day. Yaeeyaae!! So corny but yet so funny.

Movie gave some good messages about kids being selfless, love, etc. I wasn't feeling the don't kill the animals, animals right crap in the movie though. Ending was typical but that's ok. Overall, I'll give it a B. Kids don't care about romance so that def. slows the movie down. But I thought the pacing was good as well as the voice actors.
