So, I saw it got good rating on RT (99%) so I decided to check it out. If I was a member of DT, I would give this a matinee. Most on here will disagree but I'm biased on certain things. I explain later. Now, when I saw A24, I instantly flashed back to "Good Time". Even had that weird techno music like "Good Time". Positives: Overall, good acting by all. The movie starts off with her video blogging. It felt authentic with her pauses, "saying like". Just like a 13 year old girl. Her father, played by Josh Hamilton was great. He tried real hard to connect with his daughter but she looked at him like most 13 year girl view their fathers (as a alien).
Basically, it's the last of 8th grade for this girl and she's about to graduate. So it's basically a week in the life of this girl. Now, first let me say no pedo but she's kinda of a gumpy looking chick. Acne on her face, body not "fat" but definitely tall and ackward looking. And she's pretty much has no friends she hangs out with. She also like boys nobody trying to get with her. Even though she's an introvert she doesn't stay put. She tries to get out her comfort zone and take risk. Which is both rewarding and traumatic.
Unlike most school, there is no "bully" in the film but there is a cool girl that she wants her attention. But the kids in this film like many kds are enslaved to their phones. The movie does a really good job at the flase sense that social media gives..
Negative: Even though Kayla plays her role well, I never felt for her. She just came off as a normal annoying kid. Another issue was with the climax but I have to spoiler it
After the climax, I did enjoy the interaction between the father and daughter. Very few movies these days put a positive spin on single fatherhood. Overall, it was some good acting (especially by the cousin of the antigonist), but overall alot of this I've seen a billion times. I got a feeling yall gonna love this film though and I ain't mad at that.

I was mad suspicious after seeing "Good Time" witth the pedo stuff. And I knew they would go there. That part was poorly written.. She hangs out with some high school seniors and one of them dropped her off alone. sO i KNEW #METOO was coming Even though she was naive, he was dumb. She wasn't that slow to fall for that. At the very least most pervs would have tried to kiss her. Not just tell her to take her shirt off.
