Sup brehs

This is my first time voting actually (sat out on 08 election...thats another thread)

Either way thought I'd share the "options" being presented to me out in LI

Thought it would be cool to just brainstorm our political candidates outside of Romney and Obama :yeshrug:

Bout to head out the house right now, but off the rip, these are the positions I have to vote on
- Member of assembly 22nd district
- State Senator 9th district
- Representative in Congress 5th district
- District Court Judge 2nd District
- District Court Judge 1st District
- County Court Judge
- Justice of the Supreme Court (6 votes)

and obviously POTUS and VP

I could be a dikk and just go "democrat/republican" across. But as Childish Gambino said, "I can't go for that nikka Hall and Oates"

It's appreciated that you will vote for each candidate individually instead of blindly following a political party. I tip my hat.

you have your ballot and you have google. research each candidate and determine who you want to vote for. the amendments, just read each one, do research if need be. for the justices look up their records and who appointed them. it is not easy being an informed voter, it will not be quick, but you have plenty of time between now and the 6th to do this. I did mine in a little less than 30 minutes, but I had done prior research already.

I stay up with a pen and note pad making decisions on the less focused on positions (water department, community college board, etc) and referendums, write my choices on an index card and take it with me to vote. :whoo: I do my research. There are a lot of websites that will have the issues neatly outlined for positions for state house's, lawmakers, secretary of state, and these types of positions.

if y'all have the websites within arms reach that would be great

if not, like @laya_4life I have enough time to research

this will definitely be the first time I actually LEARN about my candidates as opposed to reacting to their stated arguments

So I was able to knock out a couple of the positions I was voting for

On matters of my 22nd district, I'm caught in a moral dilemma. So the 3main focus areas are:
- redevelopment of belmont racetrack (plus possible addition of casino)
- mta payroll tax
- property tax cap

The candidates are Michaelle Solanges & Sean Wright

If you were to watch their "debate" on news channel12, you'd see that Sean Wright demolished her. Dude had all the background info on the issues. And he was name dropping politicians that he's currently reached out to on the issues like he was Game.

BUT...he's running as a conservative, republican and *drumroll please* an independent (and on the tax revolt ticket). Of course the independent ticket is a sham. But off that debate, he's clearly better for the job.

I have to go research the responsibilities of this position before I cast my official vote.
