And the Gawd John Cusack does not disappoint.

Played the part perfectly imo and the whole movie was done well, just the way I'd expect a movie based on Poe's dark genre literary publishings to be.

Maybe I'm biased because Edgar Allen Poe is one of my favorite authors, but I really enjoyed it.
Made me feel like I was watching an old school "classic" with the mystery and violence as well as the dark vibe from Poe himself.

Everyone played their parts respectively and kept their performances 100%

Good mystery with a couple minor twists at the end. Worth taking a look if your into movies like this.

I hated that movie, thought it was almost total garbage. Cusak was hamming it up like Nicholas Cage, the script was terrible, the killers identify, trash, didn't even give you a chance to figure it out. The director staged all these elaborate set pieces that didn't go anywhere and never materlized....costume balls, chases on horse back, it's got it all, but none of it contains any level of authenticity, or urgency, or ever generates any real suspense. And whenever a movie has that last min, tacked on, catching up to the killer ending, it's a d grade bullshyt thriller. This was '88 Minutes' in 1892.
