It's Official: Jurassic Park IV is Coming in 2014! | Superhero Hype

Just days after word arrived that Steven Spielberg's tentative next film, Robopocalypse, has been delayed indefinitely, comes word that should more than balance out the disappointment felt by fans: Jurassic Park IV is officially on the way with a release date of June 13, 2014!

Details on the project are currently few, but Jurassic Park IV will be produced by Spielberg with a director yet-to-be-named. It is also being planned for a 3D release.

"It's really hard to keep these things going when there's an expectation and a desire by the public and the audience to keep certain franchises going," fellow producer Kathleen Kennedy told ComingSoon.net last fall. "As filmmakers, we often sit there going, 'Okay. We have to answer the question, 'Why do another one?'' If you can't answer that question, you shouldn't be doing it. It's tough. We're trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn't going to disappoint people and is, hopefully, going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise."

Currently unconfirmed, it is believed that the most recent draft of the sequel was scripted by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

The original 1993 Jurassic Park will see a 3D re-release on April 5 of this year, also hitting IMAX 3D theaters.

hated both sequels...will likely hate this one too...but I'll give it a chance...dinosaurs are awesome...makes me think back to when I was a kid...used to memorize all the names of the dinosaurs

Steven Spielberg previously dealt with the lives of soulful droids in*A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. Now he has decided to take on a story about soulless ones.DreamWorks Studios*announced today he'll begin shooting the film version of Daniel H. Wilson's novel*Robopocalypse*in January 2012 with plans to debut in theaters sometime in 2013. This tale of mechanical Armageddon will be his next directing project, after finishing the World War I drama*War Horse.Spielberg acquired the rights to the book in 2009, before it was published, though it was unclear whether he would director or just produce. The novel has still not been released to the public. Doubleday plans to put it on shelves in June 2011.Little is known about the story, apart from its focus on a band of humans trying to survive after sentient machines take over the world. The screenplay was adapted by Drew Goddard, whose past credits include TV's*Buffy the Vampire Slayer,*Alias,*Lost, and the movie*Cloverfield.
