tl;DR
You get what you pay for - Vita-Mix/Blendtec (For smoothies) Breville/Omega (For juices)

Well first off... you can't juice a banana.

What you are talking about is a smoothie (with added fresh juice).

Vita-mix and Blendtec are top of the line legit (best blenders on the market used in top restaurants around the world) -
I've had a Vita-mix for 6 years use it almost everyday and no problems.
These will run you $350-$1,000 but will last you a lot longer and blend MUCH BETTER than any other blender on the market.

If you are looking for a decent budget blender check out the high horsepower ninja... will not last as long the other two I mentioned but should do ok.

Now as far as the juice part of things... there are a few things:

The 'juicer' he has in the video is a commercial juicer and only makes sense to buy if you're making a lot of juice.

There are three types of juicers... I won't go into detail but I will say that there are two main things to check for...

Centrifugal and masticating i.e. Fast juicer and slow juicer

Centrifugal/Fast juicer
  • Usually cheaper in cost
  • 'cuts' the fruit with a blade
  • usually easier to clean
  • blades can 'heat' the juice killing nutrients
  • Juice will not 'stay fresh' as long
  • Best to drink immediately after juicing

Slow juicer/cold press juicer
  • Usually more expensive
  • 'crushes the fruit'
  • takes a bit longer to process into juice
  • takes a bit longer to clean
  • More nutrients in juice (higher quality produced)
  • Juice will/can stay fresh for longer

For juicers
Centrifugal/fast Breville makes good ones just remember for the most part you get what you pay for
Slow/cold press Omega/Hurom has been in the game for a while but there are MANY options here

There are hybrid slow/cold press juicers (large/wide mouth juicers)

As you can see I've nerded out on this for a long time.

After that is WHAT to juice/blend
When everyone starts they do A LOT of fruit (like in the video) and of course it taste great cause it's all sugar
It's much healthier to do 90% vegetables and 10% fruit to add some sweetness but that's next level.

That's all for now -

I used to have a Breville ( BJE200XL but then exchanged it for a BJE510) but I eventually gave it away after a while. pain in the ass to clean up

I just bought an Omega j8008 masticating juicer a few weeks ago. We'll see how it works out

I hate anything related to Vice but, John Joseph put it down when it comes to juicing.

Came in to post this. If you're making juice before work or before a morning workout ... the breville is a pain. Messy as hell. I guess that's a by-product of actually separating the fruit from the juice

I'm on a vitamix now. I guess what I make are technically "smoothies," but the fruits and veggies are so pulverized, it drinks just like juice.
