Marquez Won't Take Risk of Judges Giving Pacquiao a Win

After four tough fights, former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez will not take a risk in facing Manny Pacquiao for a fifth time. He believes the judges robbed him of a win in their first three meetings. All three of the outcomes were controversial, with a draw in the first meeting and two close decision wins for Pacquiao in the rematch and trilogy outings. In the fourth fight, in 2012, Marquez knocked Pacquiao out cold in the sixth round.

Marquez is undecided on his boxer future. If he decides to return in 2015 for a fight or two, he says Pacquiao will not be a part of his plans.

"We had a good win [in the fourth fight] and if we face him again we run risk of having a close fight and then the judges are going to favor him, so I don't see a lot of sense [in facing him again]. We won the first three, and we won the fourth. I think we already demonstrated what we intended to demonstrate," Marquez (56-7, 40KOs) said.

"If we feel good [after a few weeks of training], by January we are going to reveal if we are going to continue or not. It would be nice to have a fifth [divisional] title, but I am not obsessed with that. Right now I could walk away [from boxing] very quietly. We have to evaluate our physical form and the opinion of family is also important."

On the official scorecard, it's Manny Pacquiao up 2-1-1. On MY scorecard, I have it tied 2-2...Manny won the 1st two fights and JMM won the last 2 fights.


No doubt that if they fight again, and it's a close fight, Manny is going to get the nod

I don't blame him. I'm not entirely certain the public wants to see them fight again either. Which goes back to what makes Arum and HBO so sh!tty. I read an article not to long ago that suggested Bradley and Pacquiao might fight again for the third time somewhere down the road. It's ridiculous. Alvarado/Bam-Bam VI and what not.

Besides, that knockout was epic, and a great way to end their rivalry. For the three times that Marquez felt he got robbed, if I was his shoes, that knockout would have taken the sting away from feeling cheated in the first three meetings.

I don't blame JMM for feeling this way or for wanting to keep his KO of Manny as the defining moment of their rivalry.
Plus I have no interest in seeing these two dudes fight again. I am a fan of trilogies but once you go past 3 fights I lose interest.

shyt reminds me of Winky turning down a career high payday for a Taylor rematch, talking about he was robbed and that he has nothing to prove and it was easy work. Well, if that's the case, do it again and get paid more for it.

This nikka act like he dominated Pac every fight and got robbed everytime BULLshyt.. he didnt even dominate Pac in the 4th fight.. He was losing...you didn't get the nods the other two times.. if pacquaio had knocked marquez, NO ONE would be asking for a rematch
marquez would get laughed at for even suggesting it

the fight was billed as the final chapter between these two. Marquez won in convincing fashion and its over
