Joseph Gordon-Levitt Rumored for Guardians of the Galaxy - IGN
thoughts?
Never mind Batman -- how about Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Star-Lord!
Who's Star-Lord, you might ask? He's the leader of -- and lead role in -- Marvel's cosmic Guardians of the Galaxy team/movie, a human-alien hybrid (in the comics anyway) named Peter Quill who heads out into space, where he meets and joins up with a bunch of intergalactic oddballs.
Deadline reports that JGL has joined the group of actors who are in the running for the role of Quill. Zachary Levi (Chuck, Thor: The Dark World) has previously been reported to be in the running for the gig, along with Zero Dark Thirty's Joel Edgerton, Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston, Cloud Atlas' Jim Sturgess, The Hobbit's Lee Pace and Les Miserables' Eddie Redmayne. Other names in the mix have included Garrett Hedlund, James Marsden and Sullivan Stapleton.
Now the thing is, if Gordon-Levitt ultimately does get the part as Star-Lord, what happens to his rumored involvement in Warner Bros.' Justice League movie? Unconfirmed reports in November had pegged the Dark Knight Rises actor as "solidifying" a deal with the studio to play Batman in that film, a move -- spoilers if you somehow haven't seen TDKR yet -- which would dovetail with the end of that film.
Which doesn't mean JGL couldn't play both characters, though I wonder how Marvel and Warners would feel about that?
