Why do we want carbon copy's of past players? Why can't these guys be themselves and grow into what they will become?.....If they did exactly what the past did sound bites and all it would be boring:what:....discuss

It's not that "we" want carbon copies of past players...

We want players that respect the game enough to pay their dues and get on their grind to be great like past players did. It's all well and good for players to be able to grow as you say. But there is a time when you gotta say "Alright - you're grown now. You gotta show us something..."

The ironic (or hypocritical, really) thing is when a player DOES follow the blueprint of another he gets shytted on for that as well, i.e. Kobe/Jordan.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. And it's because most of these analysts/writers/media types are negative people anyway who are just looking for a way to shyt on the athletes that came after the athletes they worshipped when they were kids. We'll see it in fifteen years or so with our generation, when there's some new great player who is doing things differently and this generation will be complaining about how he isn't like LeBron or he is too much like Durant or some trivial shyt.
