Jon Jones is growing weary of Alexander Gustafsson talking about him in the press.

The UFC light heavyweight champion told FOX Sports that Gustafsson is "delusional" and has too many people on Twitter telling him he's the real champ. Jones beat Gustafsson in a five-round war to retain the title back in September and Gustafsson has once again earned the spot as No. 1 contender.

"I respected him a lot more before we fought," Jones said. "I'll tell you what, he has so much arrogance for someone who didn’t win."

Gustafsson has fired some barbs at Jones recently after beating Jimi Manuwa in March to earn the next shot at the belt after Glover Teixeira, who meets Jones at UFC 172 on April 26 in Baltimore. Gustafsson said in an interview with BT Sport that Jones is trying to duck him and told FOX Sports that he is a bad matchup for Jones.

"I find it funny, because Gustafsson lost the fight fair and square," Jones said. "I will admit he won Round 1 and Round 3, but that's it. I won the fight. I've never heard someone chirp so much who lost. I could see if I poked him in the eye and the fight had to be stopped or I caught him with a big punch while he was winning and it was a fluke or something. But it was nothing like that."

“I proved that I have three times the heart that he did.”

The fight was close. Some even believe Gustafsson actually should have won the decision, but the judges thought differently and Jones still holds the belt. If Jones can beat Teixeira, the two are likely to meet again, perhaps before 2014 is up. That's gearing up to be huge fight for the UFC.

"We fought our hearts out," Jones said. "I proved that I have three times the heart that he did."

Jones added that Gustafsson had "every opportunity to seize the moment" and win the fight, but he could not. Which is why he thinks he should be a little quieter.

"He needs to close his mouth and go back to the drawing board," Jones said, "and humbly come back for a second chance."

I know. I was thinking that too, but I know @Amare's Right Hook always comes in with the sarcasm.....so I didnt know if he was being serious or not:heh:

When Dan Henderson got injured leading up to his UFC 151 title bout against Jones, the UFC attempted to book Sonnen as a late replacement (on a week's notice). However, Jones refused to take the fight and the event was cancelled.

Yeah, but he should've had.

Chael Sonnen didnt deserve a shot at the title. He had just gotten beat for the 2nd time by Silva, now he's supposed to come up to LHWY and jump straight into a title match?:dwillhuh:

Dana only cares about the money. No way in the world Chael deserved that fight or asswhipping.

It was on a week's notice, the options were very limited. It was pretty much, either put in Sonnen or cancel the event (lose millions). I agree with you though and believe Sonnen was not deserving of a title shot (far from), but I understand what the UFC was trying to do.[DOUBLEPOST=1397673452][/DOUBLEPOST]The Ultimate Fighter and eventual fight between Jones/Sonnen was a joke and inexcusable though.

Not to mention, we're talking about two different opponents, and subsequently two different approaches in training. If he would have lost to Sonnen, people would have called him stupid for taking the fight. Instead he waited, trained properly, and gave Sonnen a pretty damn thorough sonning. He made the right choice, selfish or not, he made the right decision.

This Jones/Gustaffson thing is just talk though, similar to what Mayweather is doing for Khan. These fighters are taking on a more active role in promoting themselves and the way media is nowadays you can't blame them. A fighter nowadays is prepping for one opponent all the while building hype for another fight down the road. You can almost see Dana/Jones/Gustaffson in an office somewhere plotting on how to choreograph this whole charade.
