Can we discuss how John Stockton was one of the toughest players to ever play in the NBA? This man was 6' 1", 170 lbs. and would routinely fight Big Men while being the smallest guy on the court. There is a whole youtube highlight video where you can see all of the fights and tussles that Stockton had in his career. He was not scared to get into with David Robinson, Rodman, MJ, and Corliss Williamson. We will never get another small guy who routinely liked getting physical and beat up like that again.

We’ve actually seen A LOT of small guys who got physical and were tough like that since then. You’re not making it on the pro level at that small of a size without an outsized amount of both mental and physical toughness.

Dirty player who used to get a massively favorable whistle in Utah. I remember how he'd use his off-hand while dribbling to hook the defensive player's arm and then pretend the defender was holding him to draw a cheap foul. Those hands were active as hell on both ends of the court, always pulling on jerseys and tugging at elbows when the refs weren't looking to gain a little advantage.

When Rodman was with the Spurs, they played against Utah in the postseason. Rodman put a cheap shot on Stockton coming across the lane.

Not that Rodman ever needed a reason to do shyt like that, but he said Stockton deserved it for all the dirty shyt he did.

Rodman, Malone, and Stockton were all dirty. I don’t think Stockton was as bad as those two though.

WHO didn’t do that back then? The majority of guards did that. It’s only highlighted due to narrative.

1997 vote of NBA players, coaches and executives for the NBA's dirtiest player.

10 said Rodman, 5 said Stockton, 4 said Oakley, 3 said Malone.

2001 fan survey by USAToday for the NBA's dirtiest player.

Rodman, Mourning, Horry(especially), Miller, Olajuwon, Jordan & Pippen where just as dirty, it's fugazi to hold Stockton or Malone as more dirty than their peers

They were scrappy as hell is better way to frame it....

Bill Laimbeer is definition of dirty.....

which is why he typically failed in the playoffs, because those favorable whistles disappeared, and his numbers started to drop
