I accidentally posted this reply in another thread. if it's stupid for this to be anew thread, feel free to delete it mods.

More than the botched LOST ending and unanswered questions, what really got me was how they took Locke from a "special" person early in the show, that was healed by the island, in touch with it, a hunter, a skilled guy that found his place on the island after being basically a loser back in the real world that constantly got taken advantage of and shytted on.

He was such a strong character and then I don't know if it was in the grand scheme or not, but after his body was in the casket and they made him out to just be a loser that wasn't special after all, even on the island, they really threw his character in the bushes.

Still, props to terry O'Quinn for being able to play a loser Locke, awesome Locke, and the Man In Black. He took the bullshyt the writers started giving him later on in stride and made the most of it.

I loved it. It's extremely realistic. A lot of people think they're special. We're all the hero in our own personal story. But in the end most us ain't shyt:manny:When we ever pondered how Omar would go out on The Wire, we probably expected some crazy gun fight. He got clapped by a little boy in a bodega:manny:

I don't entirely disagree. I would've liked it if they had written it differently maybe. It just seemed like in the early season Locke was clearly actually special though. There were things that he was able to do with the island, communicating with it, having it heal him, and even Jacob spoke to him and helped him out.

Or maybe he was special in a meta sense, in that it was destiny all along that he die in order to get everyone back to the island?

The island healed Rose as well, though:manny:I agree that there were some inconsistencies in the writing of the character but Locke was always going to be a tragic figure

I did not see it coming, it really messed with my head that he was really dead. Easily one of my favorite characters...after that I hoped they dropped a nuclear bomb on that island.
