This mfer has to be primaried, democrats shouldn't be backing candidates who don't stick behind the party in times like this. Not only has he sold out the party, he's additionally an aipac stooge

Ron Johnson and tons of others are in a swing state your point ?
So what? Why does it matter that a politician is appealing to his constituency

When these guys become Maga then you can be outraged

No that's already a law stupid, this isn’t that

Good breakdown on what this law is

Can you explain how Riley was murdered by an illegal immigrant that had been arrest multiple times?

Americans want tougher laws on illegal immigration. This isn’t a partisan issue, I don’t get how there can be opposition to this. Illegal immigration isn’t benefiting people

Fetterman has always been shady at best

In 2013, Fetterman pursued a man and pulled a shotgun on him because he wrongly believed the man, who turned out to be a Black jogger, had been involved in a shooting. While the incident has long loomed over Fetterman’s campaign, it’s been particularly amplified by his opponents as the May 17 Democratic primary approaches. And Republicans are almost certain to make it an issue in a general election if Fetterman is the Democratic nominee.

He isn't appealing to his consistency that voted for him which is why we're having this conversation in the first place. He was voted in as a democrat from the state of Pennsylvania to serve his democrat cconsistency providing a democrat agenda.

People are murdered every day, many many more are murdered from non illegal immigrants, do your crime pilled self want tougher laws locking citizens up for simply being "accused" because of murder statistics? This is a partisan hack issue, we already have laws on the books to deport illegals for being illegal. Statistics show majority of illegals AREN'T committing crimes, infact legal residents are the majority citizens committing crimes

So Republicans in swing states can still kiss Trump's ring and Democrats in swing states can... also kiss Trump's ring.

And some of you wonder why the Democrats are the most unpopular they've been in decades :unimpressed:
his take on the election that democrat voters didn't show up to vote on Harris's moderate right campaign is that democrats should have a complete submission and become mini republicans lol. Just complete submission to the rights framing of the world, complete capitulation

We are in agreement here, but the American voter has decided to put Trump and Republicans back in control. So now we are having this discussion from a realistic lense of a broken system that needs changes.

Fundamentally democrats aren't in a position just block all immigration proposals especially ones like this where they should be looking to amend instead of pretending everything is okay and the current laws work.

We agree. Dems should add these things to the current bill being pushed through.

That's fune, but I'm not as inclined to make these types of arguments over a loss of due process when they still have the constitutional rights to habeus Corpus.

Second, these discussions from the left operate under the premise that because a person made to America and claimed asylum that they are entitled to be here, which they are not. And this to me is a fundamental issue when these discussions happen.

We can accept that immigration is a positive for society without the presumption that all immigrants and immigration is beneficial.

Either way, I enjoy the discussion.
Yeah, this is generally reasonable and not talking past each other, which I can dig. My stance would be that asylum seekers deserve a hearing before being sent back to their home-country (because of the implications of seeking asylum). But I can see the point of disagreement.

One thing I do want to clarify, is that when I point to this legislation being impractical, it's not only about the benefits of immigration. But the costs of detention and deportation (supported below):

So even cutting past any due process arguments, the costs of this bill should be looked at in comparison to the numerous other policies that could be funded which would be more beneficial to Americans. I think that plays a role in why roughly 3/4s of Democrats voted against the bill, because even I was expecting the margins to look worse.
