John Carpenter has thrown his support behind an upcoming remake of his 1978 horror classic Halloween, which will be co-written by Danny McBride and David Gordon Green and directed by Green.

"So you say you want a Revolution," the filmmaker posted on Facebook following news of the upcoming remake. "You want to shake things up and bring back Halloween and make it rock again? Well so do I."

Carpenter added that he would serve as executive producer on the film, and possibly even composer. "I might even do the music. Maybe. It could be kind of cool," he wrote. Carpenter provided the iconic score for the original Halloween, as well as several other of his films.

According to Carpenter, the new Halloween is penciled to arrive October 18th, 2018, a week shy of the 40th anniversary of the originalHalloween's theatrical release. After the original spawned eight sequels over a 25-year span, Rob Zombie rebooted the horror classic in 2007, which was followed by a sequel in 2009.

Since then, however, Michael Myers has lay dormant, until McBride and Green pitched him on their idea for the film.

Carpenter continued, "David and Danny both came to my office recently with [Blumhouse producer] Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and … WOW. They get it. I think you're gonna dig it. They blew me away."

McBride has long collaborated with Green, working with the director on Pineapple Express, Your Highness, All the Real Girls and Eastbound and Down. Although known for his comedy chops, McBride is no stranger to classic horror franchises: He'll co-star in the upcoming Alien: Covenant.

So is it Danny McBride screenwriter (Underworld series) or Danny McBride actor/comedian (Eastbound and Down), because I've seen both getting cited in articles.

Believe they're talking about the actor because the other guy mentioned was his writing partner for Eastbound. Whole thing has me like :mindblown: and I loved Eastbound and Down

i know they just did it but--man...If a good director got ahold of nightmare on elm street it could be like the scariest shyt. You can do so much with dream sequences.

We'll certainly see another Nightmare film before long.

I think the next one needs to skip on all the backstory and setting up of Freddy's background. We already know all that shyt, he was a child killer who was burned alive by the town residents after he got off in his trial. The next one should dive directly into the nightmare sequences, with Freddy tormenting a group of teens. Start the story there. They don't need a big name actor for Freddy either. The character shouldn't be that prominent.

agreed. problem is there just aren't that many talented horror directors out there. the genre is struggling. But you could do some horrifying ass shyt with dream sequences. Nightmare on elm street is probably my favorite horror "concept" ever.

Just bringing this up, cause I watched the Remake & its sequel after long being hesitant and dann I was right :mjlol:
The Remake was already a bit off with explaining Michaels whole Story with that cliche white trash Origins etc. but that fukkin sequel was one of the most embarassing films I ever Seen :snoop:
I normally like Rob Zombies films but he just fukked up royally with this film. Those fukkin corny ass scenes with white horses and his mom as an "Angel" through the whole fukkin Film :mindblown::snoop:
Lauries Character suddenly being on some corny "satanic, hardrock trip" :what:
Dr loomis :beli:
Michael as a fukkin Hobo :why:

Damn that new remake cant be any worse than this
