Brennan is an evil c*nt...the fact that he had the gall to publicly call the drone strikes "ethical and just" is disgusting.

How should those killings been carried out in your opinion?

In a way that does not incur elevated civilian casualties and actually hits high value targets (weapons, training facilities) instead of just blowing up Al Queda terrorist #32 and whatever non-terrorist men, women and children that happen to be in the vicinity.

You think they're just taking out random guys here? They have board room meetings where these decisions take place. Its not as simple as hey lets attack joe blow today.

Its a case of Al Queda's number 2 guy gets blown up in a drone strike and a new number 2 guy pops up before the smoke clears.
As the raid to kill Osama showed actionable intelligence comes from cultivating human assets and capturing these dudes for interrogation. Killing someone like Anwar al-Awlaki doesn't do anything to stop recruitment or squash the will of other (suspected) terrorists. And the collateral damage is a better recruitment tool than any speeches or propaganda that terrorist organizations can come up with.

Recruitment doesnt matter. Eventually you're left with just that. Recruits and no real leaders to carry on their sinister plans. Killing the top guys over and over again leads to a bunch of useless pawns. Eventually the entire organization can be co-oped by a mole who works for the "good guys".

how sinister do you have to be to launch a suicide attack at an army base or kill a polio worker? these tribal guys he's droning in the afghanistan-pakistan border are not masterminds, they're just angry militants. blowing up their families just makes more people join the militancy

I dont see the big deal, so what? Warfare and humanity have advanced.

As far as civilians killed, I don't believe there have been any.

“there hasn’t been a single collateral death because of the exceptional proficiency, precision of the capabilities we’ve been able to develop.” - John O. Brennan
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/12/world/asia/12drones.html?_r=2&

The CIA believes that the strikes conducted since May 2010 have killed over 600 militants and have not caused any civilian fatalities, a claim that some experts disputed.

Then the people who join will get droned too along with the masterminds who get caught slippin. Its the 21st century. People get droned every day. This is a new reality of our life that we have to life with. Droning saves soldiers in America. Intelligence confirms there is good reason to drone these people, so they get droned. I dont think the government cares about collateral damage, clearly and would rather the complaints come from the enemies of the state and the people who harbor these bums then public opinion at home from a long list of dead G.I's

@Brown_Pride is this a good look?

No one is looking. We're completely detached from the collateral damage attributed to droning. The closest most of us get is, *So and so leader of so and so was droned today making him the 4th top official to be droned this month* (on the news) We read that right before finding better things to do reading about someone getting ethered in TLR.
