Former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen might have his outfit picked out for the the BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 7. (It won't be one of his old jerseys, though that is one way to earn immediate street cred at any viewing party.)

In a tweet he since has deleted, the current Carolina Panther sent out a picture of a T-shirt that showed where his allegiances stand when it comes to Notre Dame and Alabama.

Remember the famous "Catholics vs. Convicts" game between Notre Dame and Miami (Fla.) in 1988? According to Clausen's shirt, this season's BCS National Championship Game pits "Catholics" against "Cousins."

The Notre Dame image is one of a stiff-arming leprechaun. Alabama's is a caricature of a "yokel" drinking moonshine, I presume. (The shirt does include a picture of Bear Bryant's houndstooth hat, so it's not all negative.)

Clausen already was one of the most vilified college players of the past decade, for many reasons – for the fact he committed to Notre Dame at the College Football Hall of Fame, for one. (Not to mention the fact that he went to Notre Dame, which never helped his popularity with the masses.) If there were any Alabama fans who still viewed Clausen in a positive light, his T-shirt likely ensures they've joined the majority.

To be fair, Clausen deleted the tweet after the inevitable backlash, telling his followers, "Some people have to much time on your hands! It's a shirt people lol."

"The shirt was sent to me! I was saying THANK YOU #calmdownpeople ," Clausen said in another tweet.
