You can't stop the prophet.....

:wow:

I always knew it, but this was like one of those things hip-hop heads that fukked with this album seem to never want to talk about...

I knew it was a nod to the 93 wtc bombing that failed, but when ya think about it in retrospect it's like....damn...

:wow:

BTW, great album although I thought wrath of the math was better....

Coup had the same thing...in 2001 no less
OMG! I remember that!

And that shyt was literally months before 9/11!

But what made this more impressive is that shyt was in 19 ninety muthafukkin four!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeru was the first rapper to reference alot of political shyt going on with black america and was a hella mainstream rapper in retrospect signed on a major label...that had music videos on MTV.

Would never fly now...hell no.

talks about the prison industrial complex
and rap music promoting materialism and keeping heads broke in the hood

"projects are strategically set up
just in case that shyt erupts their easily blown up."

The projects got torn down in many cities nation wide and crime has spread in places like Chicago

BTW, Jeru was ill as fukk back in the day.

Only MC worth a damn other than Guru on Premier beats.

C'mon now breh, he was one of many worth a damn :pachaha:

But you're right about him being ill as hell. Plus he had a unique flow.

*Reminisces about personify-ing adjectives in can't stop the prophet*

:banderas:

That's some good lyricism

It was the World Trade Center....Money for nearly every major transaction across the world went through there. That's why it was the focus of a lot of covers. It wasn't really prophetic shyt from anybody because everybody in the world that hated the current system looked at those buildings as a primary cause for a lot of the worlds problems.
