WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (24-1-0, 20 KOs) has continued to verbally slam his Canadian rival, Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17KOs).

Stevenson returns to action on Friday night against Dmitry Sukhotskiy (22-2, 16 KOs) at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec. Pascal is back on March 17th, when he faces WBA/IBF/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23KOs) at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

During Wednesday's final press conference for his upcoming title defense, Stevenson jabbed at Pascal over his two outcomes against Bernard Hopkins, in 2010 and 2011.

"He was not even able to beat a grandfather more than 40 years old, two times he was beaten," Stevenson said. "He has not faced anyone from the top ten at 175 pounds. Aside from speaking in the media and doing all sorts of nonsense, he has accomplished nothing."

Pascal's adviser, Greg Leon, went ballistic after reading Stevenson's statements. Leon admits the last time he was this offended was when ex-partner Ron Heard contacted him eight years ago for a $20 dollar loan to put the heat back on [Heard has paid back $7 dollars of the loan so far].

Leon is also still pushing for Stevenson to fight his stablemate, dangerous puncher Artur Beterbiev who fights on Friday's undercard with fellow unbeaten Jeff Page.

"Adonis Stevenson says Jean Pascal got beaten by a grandfather in Bernard Hopkins, but fails to realize that by making this remark not only is he disrespecting one of the greatest boxers of all time, he's acknowledging that Pascal was already at the elite level of the light heavyweight division against hall of fame opposition when this international businessman of mystery was busy getting knocked out in two rounds by Darnell Boone in the United States because no Canadian promoter wanted to touch him with a ten foot pole. Adonis also says Pascal hasn't fought a top light heavyweight in years, but compare their resumes and it's clear Pascal has been in much tougher,'' Leon stated to BoxingScene.com.

"Fact is Adonis hadn't fought any light heavyweights before Jean Pascal gifted him with a title in his 175 pound debut. Maybe he's just sore because Pascal's bout with Kovalev definitely eliminates that much talked about April 4 date at the Bell Centre. Who in their right mind is going to spend their hard earned money at the Bell Centre for a farce when 'the fight' is happening in the same building three weeks earlier? The Quebec fans are among the smartest and most loyal boxing fans in the world, so they're going to save their money and show up for Kovalev-Pascal and they will always continue to show their allegiance to those boxers who deliver the fights they want to see.

"If I were Adonis I'd be hoping Kovalev wins too because if Pascal is bringing 3/4th of the championships to the table he would be earning 3/4 of the money or there wouldn't be a fight. Perhaps if he asked nicely and aplogized for some of his ridiculous insults - then and only then will 70/30 become a possibility. Deep down inside I think Adonis and his team are thrilled with this WBC ruling. It gives them six more months to shove another fight nobody wants to see down boxing fans throats, while erroneously making it seem like he's worth half of any fight for all four major light heavyweight championships.

"As the third best fighter on that card this Friday [below Beterbiev and Dirrell], Adonis should just focus on his bout, because if Sukhotskiy or the next second tier opponent he fights finds that Darnell Boone button on his chin - then boxing fans will gladly dismiss him as an afterthought. Who knows? Maybe I've got Adonis all wrong. Maybe he'll finally show the heart of a champion and look to fight Artur Beterbiev in his next voluntary defense. Personally, I think Beterbiev would mop the floor with him so I would be very surprised if they looked to make that happen."
