I don't care what anyone says, that show was trashhhhhhhhhhhh.

Continuity was flaky, they made the most dangerous man on the team a joke(Cyclops) and the animation was basura.

No wonder heads devoured anime when they got exposed to it.

The cartoon was solid (miles better than the live action movies for sure), but way too many people hype the cartoon up as the definitive, “true” version of X-men without putting enough respect on the source material.

The 80s Claremont run was the real GOAT era, not the 90s.

Speaking of which, Nightcrawler and Colossus deserved more than 2 episodes apiece. They should have been regular characters. :martin:

We all loved the Jim Lee 90s era when we were kids but let's be reality, that era was style over substance. The artwork was :whoo: but those storylines weren't seeing the Dark Phoenix Saga or Days of Future Past.

The 90s were iconic, but that era is mostly carried by nostalgia for the cartoon series (plus the built up momentum from Claremont’s 80s run) more than anything. Most of the really dope stories from the cartoons/movies were taken from the 80s run. I'll still take the 90s era over the modern runs though.

I'm not gonna go THAT far, lol. :pachaha:

The 90s had some solid stories, but I don't think they're on the same level as say, the John Byrne run for example.
X-cutioners song and Fatal Attractions are still a lot of fun. I would read those ahead of the modern runs any day.
And to be fair, X-men #1 is the bestselling individual comic of all time, so I can't knock Jim Lee for that.

The 90s were a cool era overall, it just gets gassed up WAY too much by people that only watched the cartoon series.

And Cyclops was always that dude until editorial mandates and retcons turned him into a jobber and a deadbeat dad. Dude had had Jean Grey, Coleen Wing, Lee Forrester, and later Psylocke eating out the palm of his hand in the comics while Wolverine was crying over Mariko friendzoning and Colossus was in a straight up  relationship with Kitty Pryde . Cyclops stayed sonning Wolverine regularly in the books and even bodied the entire team at one point.
Way too many people write Cyclops off because they only know him as the corny dude in the 90s cartoon and the movies.
