Chavez Sr when asked about Canelo being in his corner during the final round of his exhibition match vs Camacho Jr:
"It was something spontaneous, it wasn't written or planned. Canelo was very excited watching ringside rooting for me! In that round, I took off my headgear because I said I was gonna take off my headgear in the final round, but Camacho Jr didn't want to. Then, I saw Canelo very excited so I told him to come up to the ring, so he could be in my corner. It was something very beautiful, to pass the torch to Canelo, well he's always had it. He is the best Mexican fighter right now! And possibly the best Mexican fighter ever in history."
