Okay, first things first.
I'm not going to answer any questions pertaining to :
A: The veracity of the origin of the transcript.
B: The specific details regarding the acquisition of the transcript.
I will say this though, the information being presented
here was first obtained by someone participating actively
as a member within the music industry.
My personal reason for posting this here,
is simply to provide the fans with some insight
into the lyrical tone of the upcoming Blueprint 4 album.
The other day I wrote a rather lengthy semi-tirade
concerning the rigid fixation on the overabundant
luxury consumerism prevalent across the entire
landscape of current commercially viable hip hop and rap.
Jay-z is one of the front-running leaders of this frame of mind,
as depicted consistently, in both the music and Jay-z
as a brand itself, throughout the entirety of his career.
Now, with this transcript unveiled, as well as other
leaked information hinting at an unprecedented
thematic 180 degrees turn compared the bulk of Jay-z
former releases,it looks like we might not only
get to experience a new Jay-z, but also experience
a new overall shift in hip hop, considering the immense
influence Jay-z has on the creative direction of the industry .
In conclusion, that makes me happy.
It makes me happy as a fan of Jay-z,
but also as someone caring about the culture
as a whole, from the basement to the corporate penthouse.
This could possibly signal in the beginning
of a new commercial hip hop scene.
A scene daring to look backwards.
Back to the days of mentally recording in the basement Wu-style, instead of solely stressing over which chain to wear to the penthouse cocktail party.
Those were the days.
And now we might get them back.
For that I'm happy and I'm hopeful.
And I'm out.
