Jay explained it best when asked about it, "if you go to a hotel, there is only one presidential suite." I don't think Jay really felt this whole partnership was about a deeper bond. Jay wanted to be his own man and didn't need Dame anymore. Later, he said, "Dame made millions" on BP3. Cold blooded.

It was a power move by Jay, and hip-hop did not resent him over it at all. People wonder why they stopped respecting the fans for about 10 years now.
