I honestly think solar energy is a fad (unless they can come up with solar panels that can absorb all of the incoming solar rays). They should focus their energy on developing nuclear fusion instead.

What you mean developing nuclear fusion? We been did that...its called a hydrogen bomb. Good luck harnessing that energy into something useful and not just a hellish form of weaponry. The sun does fusion, and as you can see its not the most safe form of energy production there is. Added to that the radioactive byproducts emitted would be hard to contend with as well. Cold fusion is about as far off a warp drive at this point.

Solar energy is safe, limitless (as long as we have our Sun), and has no byproducts (that im aware of at least...certainly much less than nuclear energy). Solar is the future. The technology and panel output will only get better with time.

Heres a related rect article on fusion energy though http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/nuclear-fusion-hits-energy-milestone-1.2534140

Japan, but from the 989
I can see them doing this successfully. Over here those solar panels are everywhere! Almost every house has them on top of the roof. They are making moves with solar energy....nuclear??? Well that is another story entirely! LOL

Seeing as the Sun is a giant fusion reaction already why try to reproduce star power on the surface of the earth when we have unlimited access to it in the sky? Trying to produce a sustainable fusion reaction on earth won't end well. What we need to do is blanket our uninhabitable areas with solar panels and cable that energy to our grids. The big suits of the energy-industrial complex won't let it happen and have been actively working against renewable power sources for a few generations already. Solar power to its potential, along with geothermal and wind power, would be the end of Big oil and the nuclear, coal and nat-gas industries.

I heard about this, while good in conception. not good in execution beaming the energy down in microwaves is NOT a good idea. plenty of variables and bad shyt could happen like idk a fukking too much microwave energy beam misfire could incinerate a city or much worse.

:wtf:

I work in solar and it is growing more than ever. lmao

You really have no idea of the applications for solar power. Fad huh :dead:

i saw a documentary on Iceland and their geothermal system.
damn near 100% of their energy comes from geothermal.

as far as solar goes, i really do think that it's the future.
the sun is constantly blasting energy out and if we were to actually make it a priority to harness it then it would be a game changer.

Would be sick.

now that we're on the topic, anyone know which companies are leading the research into multi-layer photovoltaic cells? Might be a good investment opportunity.
