"With rumors swirling about Apple entering the wearable space with an iWatch, you'd think that the Japanese and Swiss companies that have dominated high-end watchmaking for more than a century would be scrambling to catch up. But there were virtually no smartwatches on display at the Baselworld trade fair, and the watchmaking giants had no plans to produce any. Company representatives seemed sure that people in practice would be uninterested in constantly recharging their watches and downloading software updates just to tell time."

This is a hard call. I feel like a smartwatch is a pretty good idea as far as putting some functionality into an accessory. But are they going to rival the best watchmakers in terms of style etc? Would I trade some audemars-piguet for a google glasswatch on my wrist? :lolbron:

Digital watches have been around for a long time. Of course, all they do is tell time digitally and some have a built-in calculator and the Ironman watches have lap timers and stopwatches. Those evolutions of watches didn't replace the Rolex.
I don't feel that a wrist-worn smartphone is going to replace high-end wristwatches like Rolex or Tag Hauer. That's like saying recycled plastic bottle flip-flops are going to replace leather Hugo Boss dress shoes.

I really think the smart watch is gonna be the next big thing and if it really takes off they'll become status symbols in themselves.

smart phones are a bigger threat to future growth than those fly by night smart watches.

When people ask for the time, most young people will reach for their phone not their watches.

When people ask for the time, most young people will reach for their phone not their watches.

That's cause:

A) not everyone wears watches

B) muthafukkas aren't that confident in their time telling skills and in the heat of the moment prefer a digital clock.

But everyone is gonna want a smart watch.

Time, weather, google, siri, camera, and voice/facetime functionality without even having to reach in your pocket.:banderas:
