A few days ago on Twitter, rapper turned promoter Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. had a war of words. During the tweeting battle between the former best friends, Jackson took an unexpected shot at WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs). Besides tweeting out "f*** Andre Ward" - he also said Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14KOs) was ready to take Ward's titles. Dirrell is promoted by Jackson's promotional company, SMS Promotions.
During the tweeting rampage, 50 was campaigning for a fight between Mayweather and Yuriorkis Gamboa. The Cuban gold medal winner is also promoted by SMS. At one point, Jackson offered a side bet of $20 million dollars for Mayweather to face Gamboa.
Ward's manager, James Prince, is no stranger to the music industry and knows Jackson very well. Prince has advised BoxingScene.com that he wants Jackson to put his money where his mouth is.
Prince is willing to match Jackson's bet of $20 million dollars. If Jackson puts the $20 million on the table, Ward vs. Dirrell could easily be made, says Prince.
"I hear there is $20 million being thrown around with betting on Gamboa. But since Andre Dirrell is with him, and he proved on there how strongly he feels about Dirrell - I just want him to know if he brings $20 million to the table - I'll fade his bet for that fight, with Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell," Prince told BoxingScene.com.
"As a matter of fact, if he's feeling that good he can bring that bet to the table and we can execute that real soon. I just want him to know that his bet, that believes in one of his fighters with...if he believes in the other one, as he quoted [he does] and he should - I'll fade that bet for him. It don't have to take no long time. It can be the next fight if he's feeling real good. It can be done tomorrow if he wants. They don't need no warmups and all that kind of stuff. It can be made ASAP - if he believes in his fighter."
