most of the early top grade rappers in the established industry were smart students or from decent homes with above average opportunities. this is a linguistic artform. rappers have been dumbing down to fit in for decades rather than touting their scholarly achievements because the culture is poison in terms of its value metric being attached to the streets over everything else ...which has steered the culture into the gutter over time and kept it based there.
