I remember being a kid back then and his singles were bumping. The videos had the huge budgets. Looked like he was getting a major push to be THAT guy especially since X was getting more into movies instead of rapping at the time. What happened? Jada seems like he was always on the cusp but never really got where I think he should've.

He was nothing more than "New York" hype. plain and simple.

Later in his career yeah I would agree, but I'm from the south and we was fukking with Jada during that first album. That Knock Yourself Out single had clubs on smash. What happened?

His production was always not good enough to bring him where he needed to be.

The album was good, but not classic like I thought it be.

Too many subpar songs.

Jada never produced the classic he was capable of. But cats kill me acting like Jada can't/hasn't embarrassed your favorite rapper on a track at the drop of a dime.

:whew:

I remember around that time me and one of my friends were the biggest Jadakiss fans there was. The Beanie beef, Knock Yourself Out, We Gonna Make It, Put Your Hands Up, Livin The Life with Prodigy off the Violator album all the mixtape shyt etc. You couldnt tell me there wasnt a person with a bigger buzz at the time but it all fizzled out by the time the album actually dropped if memory serves me correct it got pushed back a couple of times by the time it came out everyone was over it.

Am I the only one who loved Cruisin with Snoop? :manny:

You know why the expectation was so huge for Jada because of his charisma and his deadly bars. He was like a mix of Nas, Big, Raekwon, and Jay-Z.

The first time hearing Put Ya Hands Up and that line "I'ma get Bucks like Milwaukee cause like Sam, I ca(n) sell." :mindblown:

The hype for that album was crazy, most anticipated, in the same league as Beans and Jay, that summer. I was HYPED, going to cd stores and asking when that Kiss was being released, reading the little booklet that had all the releases scheduled, 'Put Ya Hands Up & 'We Gon Make It' dropped, then the video for 'Knock Ya Self Out', plus in the middle of this, all the Sigel disses were happening. It was a good time in hip hop. I remember when Jada album leaked, they used to leak in real audio back then, and people were kind of hating, but more tracks leaked later, went from 14 tracks to like 21. I fukked with it. 'Show Discipline' was a snippet on a Clue tape, and people were FIENDING for the whole thing.

People talk about how disappointing Jadas career has been, but I disagree.

Given how one-dimensional and cookie-cutter his sh1t is, Im amazed hes been able to kick around for like 15 years

Dude will always have street credibility and respect as a spitter from that crowd.

The Last Kiss was also a decent mainstream effort, not bad at all
