Jack Dorsey Is Giving Andrew Yang $5 Million To Build the Case for Universal Basic Income

The donation is part of Dorsey's Start Small LLC, a $1 billion foundation he launched last month to support global COVID-19 relief efforts. "Not only will Jack's donation directly impact tens of thousands of people in need during the current economic downturn, it will help Humanity Forward and our movement continue to make a case for Universal Basic Income (UBI) in the United States," Yang said in a statement. "We know UBI for every American is possible, and this $5 million from Start Small is going to help demonstrate what is possible for families across the country."

Called this years ago. UBI is inevitable in the long term, and it is already widely supported by the Silicon Valley titans who will continue to dominate the economy. Automation is going to happen, there's no stopping it. There needs to be a way for lower+working class people to maintain life...and, more importantly, consume things. Like phones, data, devices, etc. It's in corporation's interest that UBI exist, in order to allow masses of consumers to continue purchasing their shyt.

The government will essentially be subsidizing corporations via UBI.

I understand the need for UBI as automation ramps up but I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on it yet.

I'd be interested to see what happens with inflation, worker's motivation and the subsequent UBI loan market that would emerge from its implementation.

Any entity that controls your monthly income has a lot of power over you...
