That cross dressing,racist,civil rights sabotaging b*stard had the entire country (president,citizens,politicians etc) and possibly the world by the balls
He had dirt on everyone and was pretty much untouchable

Imagine the resources of the FBI and its apparatus in the hands of a power wielding maniac

I honestly don't think any individual has ever had that much power before and arguably not since

PS This is about power and not influence,if it's about the latter we know Rupert mudorch,mark zuckerberg et al has him beat in that department, strictly pure power, no single individual is/was on his level
