The Nissan auto maker as been in a battle with a computer company with the same name over the domain nissan.com. The computer company had it first and didn't want to give it up so the automaker sued them for 1. watering down their brand and 2. squating on the domain. So the computer company for years has been trying to garner sympathy and the set up a page for people to comment.

So many idiots are siding with the computer company and saying dumb shyt like "I came here looking for cars but after reading about the law suit I'm never going to buy a nissan again" All of them came to that site by accident which is why Nissan Motors wanted the name to end the confusion. The computer company is basically getting the majority of their traffic on the strength of the car companies brand recognition.

maybe, but if nissans claim was warrented, they would have gotten the domain a long time ago. they didn't, which means they should have coughed up the money required to buy the domain. if they had offered this dude a couple of millions the whole thing would be over by now. they decided to bully him instead and it just didn't work can't blame him for

Why exactly do you have a problem with this? Nissan is his last name and according to documents, he has used the name for his businesses dating back to 1980. He has just as much rights to the domain as the auto company. Unless I'm missing something here.

I side with the individual here. At the point this man started using his family name as the name of his companies, nissan was known as datsun. The man has every right to the domain since he registered the rights first. There's no amount of arguing the car company can do to change the court's decision. The way they are trying to squirm their way into getting what they want show how ruthless they are. They are trying to register computer peripherals and other goods to possibly be able to set up a case to still knock this man off the domain after the court ruled the man had the rights to it.
