I remember him from my childhood a little bit, tho not too vividly.....but watching some of these old WCW ppvs on the Network and seeing him is kinda weird. It's like you're not watching the same human being that he later was as Stone Cold Steve Austin. It's the same guy obviously, but it's different.

Meanwhile, I can watch Kane as Issac Yankem and be like, "that's Kane", or I can watch Kama and be like, "that's the Godfather" etc

But Austin is different for some reason. And it's even more weird hearing Jim Ross calling his matches back then and not being overly dramatic or homerish. Stunning Steve was better as a wrestler, but I don't find his matches watchable, whereas I can still watch a Stone Cold match and be perfectly entertained.

It's the Hollywood Blondes era where it starts to get :dwillhuh: for me. Pre Hollywood Blondes doesn't even seem like the same person at all

The Stone Cold nuances were starting to show but that look just didn't fit. He didn't seem dangerous

Flash forward to the Stone Cold from those black and white vignettes in 96 and I was sure he at least stood a chance against Mike Tyson at one point

Wait til the ECW episodes he was on uploads. Those should bridge the gap nicely

loved the hollywood blondes. the camera roll shyt was crazy... i had a vhs of them vs. bobby eaton (who had a slept on elbow drop as a finisher) and chris benoit from WCW Worldwide i believe... my uncle used to bring me tapes from atlanta. used to watch that match all the time. I loved wrestling back then, still do... but back then :wow:

I didn't pay much attention to WCW around the time of the Hollywood Blondes but Stunning Steve was always cool to me (even though I disliked him because he was a "bad guy") because I knew he was one of the most talented guys on their roster. I remember watching him for his brief time in USWA before making it to WCW so it's not weird for me to see him back then. Always felt that WCW world title was a lock for him. :pachaha:
