Side note: I just got put on a EWF bass project. I'm like, "No, really...what project are you putting me on?" Some songs aren't too bad (my mom was born on the 21st night of September, no shyt), but others (like Boogie Wonderland) make me want to take up a different instrument entirely.

(My hand to God, the first time I played Fantasy w/o a mistake, I broke down crying, thanking God that He made me a bassist. Easy enough song, but some CRAZY-ass random riffs.)

If you went to an HBCU - any HBCU - EWF was MANDATORY. They were famous for some out-of-nowhere time signatures (beat changes). Couldn't be sleep playing EWF or your ass would be lost dinnamug. When Maurice died, a lot of band members went out into their respective parking lots/football fields and started playing their music.
