It's ridiculous how NXT's Takeover are consistently BETTER than Brand PPVs

You have to factor in that Takeover's are only 5 matches and the wrestlers get a minimum of 10 mins to cook in the ring, while the main roster PPV's have between 7-9 matches and at least 3 of those matches will be 10 mins or less.

And the matches that aren't like that, like Bobby roodes entire run, get shyt on by the core NXT crowd.

The njpw main event / roh / pwg / NXT style produces pretty much the same main event style and nxt is in that style. Kick out fest OHHHH fishing, fighting spirit style. The fact that Braun is so opposite of that is why he's my favorite wrestler on earth.

You can blame HBK and Taker for putting that style in the mainstream. Also I think the NJPW Heavyweight division is similar to the WWE / GFW style.

The thing that's always crazy to me is that they're really simple ass shows with really simple ass booking. NONE of the shows are really anything special yet even the weakest Takeover card is usually head shoulders knees and toes above damn near every main roster PPV.

They're just good shows that aren't too long with little to no filler, with good wrestlers booked against other good wrestlers resulting in good matches. Shocking I know. Though for me, outside of the Toni Stark match (see what I did) I haven't felt a Takeover main event since Neville vs Zayn.

I think a big reason is that main roster PPVs are meant to keep building storylines like they are just another weekly TV episode. We barely see a definitive finish in matches anymore so there's no stakes to anything on the main roster. And with those conditions the match has to be fukking flawless or feel different to actually work. That's why Braun vs Roman works so well and why AJ vs Owens feels like a throwaway match.

It also doesn't help that current WWE style is not meant to be worked in so many matches in various shows every single week.
