I pretty much stick to 'independent' and smaller boutique shops now even tho it limits the depth of my closet due to price/availability; department store and mall goods are simply awful nowadays in terms of finishing and material.

clothing companies don't exactly make it secret, they typically list the percentage of blends they use for their clothing items. for pants a big problem in recent history has been wear and tear in the "seat" area. A lot of casual wear aren't built for everyday use or semi wear use where you might ride a bike with them or work in them nowadays. There are work pants advertised for that now instead of it being the all purpose types of the past

This is the case with damn near everything. Look at a new Honda or Toyota, and then look at one made in the 90’s. The quality was way better.

Most people don't have the money they think they have so cheaper is better. Besides they can sell this stuff to the 3rd world middle class They can't sell real Jordans to Chinese people. Instead getting your brand knocked off better to knock it off yourself and cut corners so shyt can be sold at 10 bucks a pop

the specialist outdoor brands handled this problem but their pants cost over a hundred dollars a pair.

again if they cut corners they can sell more to the 3rd world. Tesla just sold more vehicles than the F-150 hardly any Teslas on the road in Colombia Tons of Toyota Hiluxes though a Hilux is basically a Tacoma without the California smog standards.

my dad gave me some button ups from the gap from when i was a child. The denim was way thicker and colors much brighter than the stuff that comes out today. I just went to the gap the other day to try and get something, felt like the clothes were one ply.

it's expensive to use that much cotton to make a shirt to sell it for $50, mostly because someone has to fly a private jet around to different country clubs. We can't have our executives flying business class!!

I saw a pop up shop SHEIN for like three days and the line was down the street from open to close. I heard the fact that the clothes cost less is the main draw.

I've noticed it personally with levi's. 511's would last you years with heavy use, even wrangler types you'd get from outlets. when I was working at grocery stores or warehouse type jobs on summer breaks through senior year of highschool and college I'd have 2 pairs I'd cycle through that would last me a long long time. compared to when I worked some warehouse stuff fresh out of college the seat or upper thigh area would wear out within 4-5 months. bottoms would also be pretty frayed

the relaxed fit/tight but tapered fit jeans trend might look a little better but the material they use to get the look ain't the best for daily wear

Well think of how those old school jeans fit based on then and now.

Any flabby head ghetto kid grew up on old school indestructable Sears Toughskins again indestrctable ( and believe me I tried( I used to slide in them playing baseball with barely a grass stain but them shyts had zero flex them and Levis and wrangler where like wearing rubber pants even baggy they were like wearing cardboard and extremely hot.

If you need work pants better to wear some winter weight Army pants or some hunting pants like the Sitka Mountain pants

shyts like 200 bucks you get what you pay for.
