It's crazy how much quality and even CGI has changed since 2006

Counterpoint: Jurassic Park came out 21 years ago and looks better than a lot of stuff released recently.

I agree, Steven Spielberg's imo has the best special effects; War of the Worlds still looks better than movies out now.

Jurassic Park had a lot of animatronics mixed in, so I think thats why it holds up better.

Yeah they used animatronics and puppets for the close-up stuff, but even the straight CGI holds up. King Kong, Land of the Lost, a dozen straight to DVD movies...I havent seen a better-looking T-Rex since that classic scene.

It has definitely improved in some areas but it is not always needed there's nothing wrong doing practical effects. Some of these SFX companies be going out of business left and right even after doing astonishing work on block buster movies. I guess the irony here is that a lot of these SFX companies have put a lot practical efx companies out of work.

Check out this informative documentary I saw a few weeks back on Rhythm and Hues how they went under after Life of Pi

I used to rock the Caesar avi for the first movie it was only right for me to continue that tradition with the second movie. If they went practical efx for these new movies I wouldn't have mind either as long as the quality of the films are good. I'am down with that. I am an old school head I used like how the apes looked in that old Tarzan movie called Greystoke having Rick Baker doing the make up and the practical effects for the apes. Movie wasn't the greatest but looking back I used to like it and watch it every time it was on cable as a child.

Ol nostalgic ass nikkas. :childplease:

If Jurassic Park came out for the first time in 2014, best believe people would be bytching about the effects
When's the last time you watched the movie?

The first Brachiasaurus is the only thing in the entire film that looks dated. Its not even bad, just kind of washed out in respect to the rest of the colors.

The T-Rex rain scene and Raptors in the kitchen looks as good today as they did in '93.
