It’s crazy how every region in Hiphop had unique hairstyles except New York

ironically shags were popular in NY dating back to the 70s...we clowned my boy for rocking one in the 80s and yes it was called shags back then too and looked the same as shags do now minus some dudes rocking parts on the side

1988 Keith Sweat.

Think the east coast dudes took the high top fade to different levels..

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Your thread is a contradiction cause you only named a few cities?

The south, DC and Jersey being dread head areas is no different than NY not having a unique hair style.

nothing unique about dreads except the wick hair style that’s rocked in Florida.

The only true unique hair style is the shag in Dallas and wicks in Florida. That’s literally it.

the west coast perm shyt is overstated. When I went to LA a few years back I literally saw not a single person that was under the age of 35 rocking them lol. Even all the videos you watch of LA nikkas now you almost never see that hairstyle in the videos. Lol
