First and foremost, how did Denzel not win the Oscar for this? Its damn near criminal. He literally blacked the fukk from beginning to end in this. His recreating the speeches is eerily similar and right on par with Malcolm himself in tone, passion, and fire. Also Spike didn't sugar coat nor pull any punches in this. They were all on top of the Jews and called the white folks devils from beginning to end. And normally I would get on the director for casting himself in the movie but Spike was actually pretty good in his role as Shorty. Malcolm telling that liberal white broad that they didn't need her help and leaving her stuck on stupid was I doubt a movie/biopic like this gets made today. Too many whites and Jews would scream out bloody murder. I've seen this movie numerous times of course but it really hits its stride and tone in today's climate with all that's going on. Delroy Lindo was phenomenal. Angela Basset, Kate Vernon(white girl), Al Freeman, Albert Hall, etc.. all phenomenal! Spike did it with this one. The Academy hated
