I'm almost done watching the entire series (on season 7). I've had the complete box set for like 8 years but never got around to watching it in it's entirety since I was put on to other shows.

Let's discuss the moments of this show.

I like the show and watch it pretty much whenever I catch it on TV. but I don't agree when they claim it's the "Greatest of all time."

:manny:

Well objectively speaking. You're wrong.

There's seinfeld... and then there's other sitcoms...

Lets just wait till the "Friends" cornballs come out of the woodwork

seinfeld was more groundbreaking but i could see the argument for friends because:

a) it borrows a lot of it's comedic approach FROM seinfeld so it has that in common with it
b) it's characters aren't all pathetic losers
c) it contains drama too in addition to the comedy whereas seinfeld was purely comedy.

which undermines the whole point of comedy... the jokes are second to seeing whos gonna hook up... its why the show got considerably worse as the seasons went on... cause they all started too hook up...

good drama can lead to good comedy though, and it did.

gotta be honest i don't think friends ever really fell short on the laughs. even when they all got older and more mature and shyt it was still funny.

Friends was still dope up until season 6 to me..after that it was very hit or miss but the emotional component helped the show a lot. Comedy isn't all about joke after joke, it's helpful to invest in the characters and there are different ways to do that. Seinfeld found its way to do it and Friends found its way, neither is wrong. I like both shows, I think Seinfeld is funnier but that's mostly because even at age 9 I appreciated the show and fell in love with it.
