My goodness! The next 6 years at the movies will most certainly be exciting times for comic-book-movie fanboys and girls, if the recently released schedule of dates from powerhouses Warner Bros/DC and Disney/Marvel hold.
Starting in 2015, through 2020, both studios will release a total of 23 of these movies, for an average of about 4 a year.
I have to wonder whether audiences will eventually (maybe sooner than later) start to suffer from superhero movie fatigue. But maybe not - especially if you're a fan. And I should note that, not every comic book from DC and Marvel centers on a superhero. So I shouldn't assume that every single 1 of the 23 will be based on a superhero character. Although I'm sure the majority will most certainly be.
I'm not at either extreme (neither a fanboy, nor an anti-fanboy); I take each film as it comes. I like a good story (at least what I consider a good story), regardless of what form it comes in. Although it would be really nice if at least 1 of these many scheduled dates is for a film based on a black superhero comic book. more than 1 would be nice, but I don't want to push it, and get my expectations up, only to be disappointed.
Some years are *lighter* than others, with each expected to see the releases of no less than 2 films.
In 2018 there'll be as many as 6 (SIX!) superhero comic book movies released by both studios (WB/DC and Disney/Marvel) combined. Six!
Keep in mind that, also within the time period that the 23 movies will be released, Disney will debut several Marvel superhero TV series on Netflix, in a new partnership between the companies that was announced last year. So your TV and your local theater screens will be heavy on comic book adaptations.
Find the announced schedules from both studios below, including the titles that have already been announced. If you could play WB and/or Disney studio chief, what would you fill the "untitled" slots with?
