My goodness! The next 6 years at the movies will most certainly be exciting times for comic-book-movie fanboys and girls, if the recently released schedule of dates from powerhouses Warner Bros/DC and Disney/Marvel hold.

Starting in 2015, through 2020, both studios will release a total of 23 of these movies, for an average of about 4 a year.

I have to wonder whether audiences will eventually (maybe sooner than later) start to suffer from superhero movie fatigue. But maybe not - especially if you're a fan. And I should note that, not every comic book from DC and Marvel centers on a superhero. So I shouldn't assume that every single 1 of the 23 will be based on a superhero character. Although I'm sure the majority will most certainly be.

I'm not at either extreme (neither a fanboy, nor an anti-fanboy); I take each film as it comes. I like a good story (at least what I consider a good story), regardless of what form it comes in. Although it would be really nice if at least 1 of these many scheduled dates is for a film based on a black superhero comic book. more than 1 would be nice, but I don't want to push it, and get my expectations up, only to be disappointed.

Some years are *lighter* than others, with each expected to see the releases of no less than 2 films.

In 2018 there'll be as many as 6 (SIX!) superhero comic book movies released by both studios (WB/DC and Disney/Marvel) combined. Six!

Keep in mind that, also within the time period that the 23 movies will be released, Disney will debut several Marvel superhero TV series on Netflix, in a new partnership between the companies that was announced last year. So your TV and your local theater screens will be heavy on comic book adaptations.

Find the announced schedules from both studios below, including the titles that have already been announced. If you could play WB and/or Disney studio chief, what would you fill the "untitled" slots with?

Here's the WB/DC schedule:

March 25, 2016 – "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice"
August 5, 2016 – Untitled DC Film
June 23, 2017 – Untitled DC Film
November 17, 2017 – Untitled DC Film
March 23, 2018 – Untitled DC Film
July 27, 2018 – Untitled DC Film
November 16, 2018 – Untitled WB Event Film
April 5, 2019 – Untitled DC Film
June 14, 2019 – Untitled DC Film
April 3, 2020 – Untitled DC Film
June 19, 2020 – Untitled DC Film
November 20, 2020 – Untitled WB Event Film

And here's Marvel’s schedule:

May 1, 2015 – "The Avengers: Age of Ultron"
July 17, 2015 - " Ant-Man"
May 6, 2016 - "Captain America 3"
July 8, 2016 - "Doctor Strange"
May 5, 2017 – Untitled Marvel film
July 28, 2017 - "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2"
November 3, 2017 – Untitled Marvel film
May 4, 2018 – Untitled Marvel film
July 6, 2018 – Untitled Marvel film
November 2, 2018 – Untitled Marvel film
May 3, 2019 – Untitled Marvel film

Japan, but from the 989
All those Marvel movies will make money...including Ant Man. They just know what they are doing over there. If Guardians of the Galaxy is a hit, they can make Ant Man a hit...I'm more worried about the DC line up. A couple of no name flops over there....(Looking right at you Green Lantern).

"Hulk" made $245 mill on a $137 mill budget. The MCU Hulk made $263 mill on a $150 mill budget. Not a home run but definitely not flops, either.

"Antman" could be a problem because the movie has changed hands too many times.

The DC movies I don't even know why people are listing them, they don't have titles yet.

As far as the article, this whole mindstate of "there's too many comic movies" is retarded to me.

If the article said "there's too many romantic comedies" or "too many action movies" it would never even get written, because they'd get laughed out of their office.

"Comic book movies" aren't a monolithic, unified film genre. "The Dark Knight" is nothing like "The Avengers", which is nothing like "Man Of Steel", which is nothing like "Captain America", which is nothing like "Guardians Of The Galaxy".

So it is possible the WB/DC schedule could end up being like this based off of rumors going around on different sites:

March 25, 2016 – Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
August 5, 2016 – Shazam
June 23, 2017 – Justice League
November 17, 2017 – Sandman
March 23, 2018 – Wonder Woman
May 25, 2018 – Untitled Lego Movie
July 27, 2018 – Man of Steel 2
November 16, 2018 – Untitled WB Event Film (New Harry Potter Universe movie)
April 5, 2019 – Flash & Green Lantern
May 24, 2019 – Untitled Lego film
June 14, 2019 – Untitled DC Film
April 3, 2020 – Untitled DC Film
June 19, 2020 – Untitled DC Film
November 20, 2020 – Untitled WB Event Film (New Harry Potter Universe movie)

Not doubling your budget at minimum is a flop.

Once you have theatres taking their cut and the costs of marketing Their is no profit. Those films lost money.

Theirs a reason they dont care about making another one.

I dont think ant-man will flop. I dont think itll be a runaway success either. But it hits right after avengers 2 theirs no chance it flops.

But without edgar wright I haze zero interest in it.
