An Italian banker has been arrested in the death and dismemberment of a porn actress, whose tossed remains were identified through her multiple distinctive tattoos, including one that read “wanderlust,” according to reports.
Carol Maltesi, 26, who worked under the stage name Charlotte Angie, was killed with a hammer in January but only reported missing in the middle of March when she failed to turn up at a lap-dancing club earlier this month, The Telegraph reported.
A friend and neighbor identified as Davide Fontana, 43, chopped the body of the Italian-Dutch performer, a mother of one, into pieces and stored them in his freezer, officials said.
He then pretended to be his victim in a twisted ruse aimed at making it seem like she was still alive – including by paying her rent and responding to her phone messages, according to the outlet.
But when he found out that police were looking for her, he stuffed her remains in several bags and threw them off a mountain road in Brescia, a province in Lombardy some two hours outside Milan, officials reportedly said.
Last week, a passerby spotted a mutilated hand with glitter nail polish, but the woman was not identifiable because her face had been burned.

Authorities released a description that included details of her 11 tattoos, seven of which were intact, including the words “wanderlust” on her upper body and “elegance is the…” down her back.
The victim, who launched her career on adult site OnlyFans, also had inverted “V” tattoos on her inner thighs, which were visible in many of her X-rated flicks, Yahoo News reported.
Local journalist Andrea Tortelli also received a tip about Maltesi and called her acquaintances, who shared images and told him that the woman had a young son who was reportedly living with a male relative.
“I thought to myself ‘what are the odds that all this coincides – the physical description, and that this woman has eight of the same tattoos?” Tortelli told The Telegraph. “But I didn’t want to go to the police until I was sure.”
Tortelli said he tried to reach Maltesi via WhatsApp and received a reply.
“A number of people have told me about that girl,” Fontana wrote back, pretending to be the dead woman. “Fortunately I am fine.”
The journalist told the news outlet: “I thought the only person who would reply pretending to be a dead woman is the person who killed her. So basically there is an assassin on the loose.”
He added: “I decided to take all my information to the Carabinieri,” referring to the national paramilitary police.
Fontana came forward when the dead woman’s name was announced and told investigators that he knew her but denied any involvement in her disappearance, Yahoo News reported, citing prosecutor Lorena Ghibaudo.
“This man, friend and neighbor of the victim presented himself to the Carabinieri to provide information about the missing woman, offering circumstances that immediately proved to be contradicted by the investigators,” she said.
Fontana reportedly paid her rent and responded to her phone messages following her disappearance.

On Tuesday, Fontana was arrested on charges of aggravated first-degree homicide, dismemberment and concealing a corpse.
